"Substancial damages" for couple with quadraplegic child

A couple have been awarded "substancial damages" after Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust accepted liability for numerous errors that resulted in their child being born with brain damage, it has been reported.
According to the Birmingham Post, Holly Nixon, now five years old, was left a quadriplegic through mistakes that led to her not getting enough oxygen.
The extent of the damages won by Holly's parents has yet to be revealed, with a spokesman for the NHS trust claiming both parties "will now endeavour to agree a compensation package for Holly".
It is not the first time this week that compensation claims have come about involving medical practice, with celebrity healer Mosaraf Ali facing a lawsuit in London after being accused of giving a patient treatment that led to him requiring the amputation of his legs, the Guardian reported.
That case is still in the early stages, while the Nixon family's has come to a close.
